Haiti - Education : Official reopening of classes and the inauguration of 12 new schools

On Monday took place the official reopening of classes as well as the inauguration of 12 new schools in the Center and Artibonite.

The official launching ceremony of the academic year, unlike in previous years when it took place in Port-au-Prince, took place this year in Hinche (Center Dept.), at the Guy Malary National School in the presence of the First Lady Martine Moïse, Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, Minister of National Education and the highest local authorities.

Note that the École Nationale Guy Malary in Hinche, a brand new public school with 18 classrooms and modern amenities that meet earthquake and cyclonic standards is the most imposing of the 12 schools symbolically inaugurated on the same day, built by the Japanese firm Tokura Corporation and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the tune of $21.5 million https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25013-haiti-education-donation-of-$20m-from-the-japanese-government-to-build-12-schools.html

Let's stress that these new schools are equipped with autonomous solar energy sources.

These are the two departmental directors of education Mulaire Julsaint (Center) Ecol Renoit (Artibonite), who received the keys to these schools from the hands of the First Lady.

7 of these schools are located in the central Haut-Plateau (National Schools Henry Christophe, Immaculée Conception, Toussaint Louverture, Guy Malary; National Schools of Marmont, Colladère and Los Palis). 3 others are located in the central Bas-Plateau (National Schools of Crête-Brûlée, Triannon and Destaingville). 2 are found in Artibonite in the commune of Verrettes. These are the national schools of Charles Belair and Désarmes.

These new school infrastructures will make it possible to accommodate between 10,000 and 12,000 school-age children, for an average of 800 to 900 students per establishment.

The Japanese Ambassador to Haiti, Mitsuaki Mizuno, welcomed his support in the education sector, "which can reduce poverty and contribute to the sustainable development of Haiti."
