Haiti - Social : Annual report of the Digicel Foundation (2019-2020) 11/11/2020 09:51:13 This annual report focuses on the accomplishments of the Foundation during its 13 years of existence and more specifically on its total investment of more than US $72.4 million; its actions which have benefited more than 1.3 million people; the construction of 179 schools across the country benefiting more than 60,000 students; the subsidy of 214 community projects and the introduction of 75 of its educational institutions to the "Project to Support the Capacity Building of School Communities for Quality Education" (PARCCSEQ). During this fiscal year as part of its contribution to strengthening the education sector in Haiti, the Foundation has worked hard with the construction of 2 new schools: the Collège Saint Louis Marie de Monfort in Delmas 31 and the National School of Cotton (commune of Jean Rabel). In addition, the Foundation carried out the renovation of 5 other existing schools and the launch of 3 new constructions which will bring the total number to 182. Several establishments have been selected to participate in the PARCCSEQ Program, which prioritizes the participation of communities in the management of schools, and acts as spaces for reflection and the development of income-generating projects. During this fiscal year, more than 65 million Gourdes were invested in its subsidy program. In recent years, this program has focused on the "Konbit Pou Chanjman" campaign and its second edition was rich in diversity with projects for water catchment, agriculture, the environment, livestock... Thus, 16 community projects have been funded to the tune of 800,000 gourdes each. Among others, the Foundation has maintained regular funding from its various partners, including institutions such as : Our Little Brothers and Sisters, HELP, Special Olympics, to name but a few. In addition, the Digicel Foundation continued its employee engagement program despite the ongoing socio-political turmoil in the country. The involvement of each of them was remarkable whether it was on the screening day for people with special needs with Special Olympics, during the finalization of the Trou Gilot public square with TECHO or thanks to their contributions which allowed more than 2,000 students to receive gifts. Let us also underline the noble participation of the employees in the fundraising in favor of the Hospital Bernard Mevs in order to guarantee the continuity of the care of this one. HL/ HaitiLibre
