Messages on the occasion of the 217th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières
Chancellor Claude Joseph :
"At the cost of their blood, our ancestors fought for freedom and independence. Today, we must honor their memory by burying the hatchet, salute their bravery by taking the path of a dialogue that can help resolve our differences. Like their souls, great warriors, on November 18, 2020, we must seek to write a new page in the history of our country. The determination and courage of the heroes of 1803 remind us each and every one of the urgent need for a common front in order to redress the national barque riddled with the weapons of discord. Let us unite to restore hope to the sons and daughters of the common Fatherland. Happy commemoration of the Battle of Vertières !"

Consul General of Haiti in Montreal Dr. Fritz Dorvilier :
The Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal proudly joins the Haitian community in Quebec in general and Montreal in particular in commemorating the 217th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières. This feat of arms consecrated the courage and determination of the officers and soldiers of the Native Army to live free or die. By their heroic victory, they avenged African civilization whose sons and daughters were captured, enslaved and dehumanized and left us a land of freedom and dignity. May this epic remain engraved in the collective memory to build a better Haiti.

Organization of American States (OAS) :
"Independent black first nation, first black people freed from slavery. A pride that will forever remain the symbol of freedom with regard to the history of humanity. Happy November 18 to the Haitian Nation" OAS.
