Haiti - FNE : 103 million grants to communal, presbyteral, Protestant and episcopal schools

Thursday, as part of a set of provisions adopted by the administration of President Jovenel Moïse [for 3 years already] in order to reduce school fees for low-income households during the coming school year to start, the National Education Fund (FNE) in its policy of free schooling across the country, in support of the Ministry of National Education renewed 4 education support agreements with Jude Édouard Pierre of the National Federation Mayors of Haiti (FENAMH); Father Ladouceur Jean Julien of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti (CEH); Reverend Dr. Frantz J. Casseus of the Episcopal Church of Haiti (EEH) and Christon ST-Fort of the Federation of Protestant Schools of Haiti (FEPH).

These agreements respectively grant 50 million gourdes to presbyteral schools (CEH), 40 million to the Federation of Protestant Schools (FEPH) of Haiti, 10 million to the Episcopal Church in Haiti (EEH) and 3 million gourdes to the Federation. of Mayors of Haiti (FENAMH), for a total of 103 million gourdes.

According to the terms of the protocol, this FNE support is used exclusively to pay for the education of the beneficiary students. Each school affected by this intervention will produce a report showing the distribution of funding received for the education of students.

The Minister Cadet, welcomed the commitment of the institutions distributing this aid, in the sense that they facilitate the work of the State by guaranteeing access to the "bread of instruction" in the least well served areas. across the country. This initiative, he recalls, is part of the support for student education and back-to-school support for the 2020-2021 school year.

Father Ladouceur Jean Julien (CEH) recalled that with the 50 million Gourdes received last year, more than 20,000 students from 472 schools have been affected.

Christon St. Fort (FEPH), said 12,475 students from nearly 499 schools were reached last year with 40 million state support.

Reverend Father Frantz Casséus (EEH), who is benefiting for the second time from this support, ensures that the 10 million have enabled nearly 3,000 children to be educated across the country.

Finally, Jude Édouard Pierre (FENAMH) recalled that during the 2019-2020 school year, 1,905 children were educated in 24 schools across 3 departments and 10 municipalities thanks to the 3 million allocated.
