Haiti - Festival : World Music Meetings 2020 (Program)
The Festival offers a week of activities, from December 4 to 12, 2020, with among others Haitian icons including Beethova Obas who returns with a new album "Bon bagay", BIC which celebrates its 20 years of career, or the dancer. and choreographer Kettly Noël, who presents her flagship show "Je m'appelle Fanta Kaba".
Created in 2015, the Rencontres des Musiques du Monde, a unique event in Haiti, has become a real crossroads bringing together artists from all walks of life, from Haiti, the diaspora, but also from the Caribbean: Cuba, Guadeloupe, Dominican Republic, St Lucia; from Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast; from Europe: Germany, Belgium, France or even North America: Canada, United States.
Note that this edition of the Rencontres des Musiques du Monde is made possible thanks to the support of the Swiss Embassy, Wallonia-Brussels International, the French Institute in Haiti, the FOKAL but also thanks to the collaborations of other local organizations, including the Quatre Chemins festival, PAPAP, the Documentary Meetings in Haiti, the FOKAL media program and the "Haitian Ladies Network" platform.
In this particular context of health crisis, some events of the festival will take place face-to-face while others will be broadcast online.
All events are FREE
The shows and face-to-face concerts will take place at the French Institute in Haiti (IFH) or at the Café-Bar-Restaurant Yanvalou (Pacot, Port-au-Prince).
Wearing a mask is mandatory for all non-virtual events.
The shows and online screenings will be broadcast on the facebook pages of the Fokal and "Rencontresdesmusiquesdumonde"
