Haiti - Politic : Opening of the Embassy and Consulate of Haiti in Morocco

From diplomatic sources, we learn that the Republic of Haiti will open its embassy in Rabat and its consulate general in the city of Dakhla in the Moroccan Sahara.

Claude Joseph, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti is expected in Rabat for talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, the two men will proceed Thursday together at the inauguration of the Haitian embassy in Rabat before going to Dakhla on Friday for the opening of the Consulate General in Dakhla.

Haiti will thus be the first non-Arab and non-African country to open a Consulate in the Moroccan Sahara.

This inauguration should be followed by the signing of a series of cooperation agreements to support the dynamic of relations between the two countries.

Let's recall that a few weeks ago in a diplomatic note the Government welcomed with satisfaction the [peaceful] intervention of the Moroccan Government in order to put an end to the chaotic situation generated by the presence of the Polisario militias [political and armed movement of the Western Sahara] in El Guerguerat. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32360-haiti-diplomacy-haiti-takes-a-stand-in-the-border-conflict-in-morocco.html
