Haiti - Politic : The two 60 Mw gas turbines of General Electric have arrived

Friday, December 18, 2020, the boat carrying the two gas turbines with a total capacity of 60 MW of General Electric docked at Port Clerié (Terminal de Martissant).

These important equipments were unloaded in the presence of President Jovenel Moïse who was accompanied by Michel Présumé Director General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH), Évenson Calixte Coordinator of the National Regulatory Authority of the Energy Sector (ANARSE) and several members of the Government. Then the Head of State authorized their transport to the Carrefour Power Plant.

"Electrify the country 24/24 is a campaign promise, which is now being realized, despite the obstacles. Less than 4 years after my inauguration [...]" declared Moïse in front of a crowd of enthusiastic curious people, explaining that this first phase which will make it possible to produce 60 Mw of electricity https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-31326-haiti-flash-moise-gives-details-on-his-project-to-electrify-the-country.html will be followed by a second phase of 60 Mw additional, specifying that the 2 phases will cost around 120 million US dollars .

Concluding "The mandate you gave me is bound by results. I do my best to respect the terms. Even today and until February 7, 2022, I will try to fulfill all my campaign promises despite the cross roadblocks..."

Remember that these turbines can run on nautrel gas or liquid fuel. Their mobility allows them to be redeployed as needed if they are no longer needed on the initial site.
