Haiti - Social : End of year celebrations, health and safety advice 23/12/2020 09:10:23
In many countries, the Christmas and New Year celebrations remain exceptional times. In Haiti, these festivals are the most eventful in terms of social and recreational activities.
However, this year, this festive period is more delicate due on the one hand to a situation of health crisis caused by the Covid-19 and on the other hand to a situation of growing insecurity...
The Alliance for Risk Management and Business Continuity (AGERCA) regarding these two situations provides some valuable advice to the population so that this festive period takes place in the best conditions.
Precautionary measures against COVID-19 :
- Wash your hands frequently. Use soap and water, or a hydroalcoholic solution;
- Keep away from anyone who coughs or sneezes;
- Avoid crowd activities;
- Wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible;
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth;
- Cover your nose and mouth with the crease of your elbow or with a handkerchief. If you cough or sneeze;
- Stay home if you are not feeling well;
- Consult a healthcare professional if you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing.
Over the past few days, everyone has seen an increase in the insecurity situation in Haiti. During this festive period, it is extremely important to be extra vigilant in all of your activities.
Some tips against insecurity :
- Inform your loved ones about your journeys;
- Go out in groups if possible;
- Avoid going out alone at night except in extreme emergencies;
- Give your full attention to everything that happens in the street by car, motorbike or on foot;
- Identify in advance the actions to be taken in an emergency;
- Avoid sending messages while driving or walking in the street;
- Avoid dangerous areas and low-traffic detours;
- Limit your presence on social networks;
- Make sure all doors are closed at night and when you go out;
- Be courteous to everyone.
AGERCA wants to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas 2020 and a Happy New Year 2021.
