Haiti - Education : 151 million for the construction of the Lycée de Lamennais (St Louis du Nord)
Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education proceeded last week to the laying of the first stone of the construction of the Lycée de Lamennais in St. Louis du Nord whose work which will last 13 months is financed by the National Fund of Education (FNE) to the tune of around 150 million gourdes

This ceremony of laying the first stone took place in the presence of Joseph Frantz Nicolas, Director General of the FNE, Amiel Dufresne, Departmental Director of Education; Gaston Estima, Mayor of the municipality of St. Louis du Nord; Yves Lauriston, Director of the Lycée de Lamennais and engineer Patrick Midy, Managing Director of the construction firm "Structure Design Construction (SDC)"

According to the technical details of Patrick Midy in charge of the works, the establishment, founded in 1950, will be rebuilt on two levels. It will include a building that will house the administration and 3 classrooms and three other buildings each having 6 classrooms, making a total of 21 classrooms. Added to this are the housing for the caretaker, the auditorium, the library, the technical rooms, the computer room, the sports fields, the sanitary blocks

Engineer Midy specified that the old buildings will be demolished and the excavated material removed from the site, before starting the reconstruction of the Lycée on a land area of ​​around 8,000 m2.

For his part, the Minister Cadet passed the instructions to the Departmental Director in order to provide a temporary workspace for the high school students.
