Haiti - Eliminatory football : Haiti will defend its ticket in Mexico for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics
Our Grenadiers will have the mission to return with one of the two tickets available for the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) for the final phase scheduled for next summer in Tokyo, Japan on July 23 to August 8.
Haiti will be able to count on the same local elements as well as the same technical staff with the coach Jean Claude Josaphat at its head. However, despite global health restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) will do everything in its power to benefit from the services of a few expatriates who have had a special place in this talented Olympic team.
It should be remembered that this Selection has already passed two important stages to arrive there, at this decisive phase. First, she played the first round in the Cayman Islands where she did well and ended at the head of her group C which included Grenada and the Cayman Islands https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-28341-icihaiti-tokyo-2020-first-qualifying-round-haiti-win-on-grenada-%5b2-0%5d.html . Subsequently our Grenadiers outclassed Barbados [4-0] in September 2019 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28820-haiti-tokyo-2020-the-grenadiers-humiliate-the-bajans-of-barbados-[4-0].html at the Sylvio Cator stadium in a single match serving as the second phase of the competition.
It should be remembered that this eliminatory phase in Mexico will bring together 8 teams, divided into two groups:
Group A :
Mexico, United States, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
Group B :
Honduras, Canada, El Salvador and Haiti.
At the end of the Group Stage, the first two countries of each Group will qualify for the semi-finals and the winners, i.e. the finalists will validate their ticket to Tokyo 2021.
All that remains is to wait for the official match schedule.
