The Digicel Foundation in the presence of the Archbishop of Port-au-Prince, Mgr Max Leroy Mésidor and other distinguished guests, proceeded on January 12 to the laying of the first stone for the construction of the Mixed Institution Notre Lady of the Assumption.

The Digicel Foundation finances and executes for the benefit of the Montfortian Mission of the company of Mary, this new construction which will include 9 new classrooms, a sanitary block, the restoration of the old buildings which will house the preschool, a library, an administration and a refectory. With a capacity of more than 400 students, this establishment located on street Baussant, in the courtyard of the Saint Louis Roi de France church, will respect modern earthquake and para-cyclonic standards.

The Montfortian Mission of the Company of Mary since its arrival in the country in 1871, promotes support for disadvantaged people. She works on the one hand in church building and on the other hand in the education sector. To date, it has four schools open to all, in the departments of North West, North East, Artibonite and West which prioritize teaching based on moral and civic values.
