Haiti - National Carnival : D-2, more than 1,500 police officers to ensure security
The High Command of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) has made several arrangements to ensure the security of the 2021 National Carnival which is taking place this year in Port-de-Paix on February 14, 15 and 16.

In total, 1,500 police officers will be deployed during the Carnival period. Police forces will be deployed on RN #1 from Titanyen to Port-de-Paix. Nearly 500 police officers will ensure the security of the site, the stands and the carnival route involving several specialized units of the PNH such as the SWAT, the Departmental Operation and Intervention Brigade (BOID), the Intervention and Maintenance Corps of Order (CIMO) and the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO), supported by the administrative police for the protection of festival-goers, explained the divisional inspector Gary Desrosiers, spokesperson for the PNH.

Note that in order to ensure that there will be no police brutality, members of the General Inspection of the PNH (IGPNH) will be at the carnival site.

Finally, in order to facilitate the smooth running of the carnival festivities, restrictive measures will apply in particular:

All people who have a permit to carry a weapon cannot move around with their weapons, except uniformed police officers assigned to the carnival. The sale of alcohol in glass containers is prohibited. People are not allowed to circulate with objects that could injure someone (knives, machetes, hammer picks, stones etc.) the circulation of all unauthorized vehicles within the defined internal perimeter.

The General Directorate of the PNH counts on the collaboration of all for the full respect of these measures.

NOTE : As every year, HaitiLibre invites you to follow on its site www.haitiLibre.com the live broadcast of the National Carnival (except for unforeseen circumstances preventing the conduct of the Carnival or its retransmission), which takes place this year at Port-de-Paix on February 14, 14 and 16, 2021
