Haiti - Insecurity : Kidnapping of two families in Haiti during their trip to the DR

The former Ambassador of Haiti in the Dominican Republic, ex-Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) and President of the Zile Foundation, Edwin Paraison, confirmed that last weekend, two families who were traveling from Haiti to the Dominican Republic were kidnapped by unidentified individuals operating in Haiti

Edwin Paraison assured that the relatives of the two families were negotiating to pay the ransom and release the hostages, adding that due to the dual nationality of these families, one Haitian-American and the other Haitian-Canadian, the embassies of those countries would be involved in the release of the hostages.

According to the information available, the kidnapping would have taken place on the National #8 which leads to the border town of Malpasse, while these two families wanted to go to Santo Domingo where they have shops.
