The geological engineer Claude Prépetit, Director General of the Bureau of Mines and Energy (BME) joins the Technical Unit of Seismology, the Ministry of the Environment and the Permanent Secretariat of Risk and Disaster Management, to inform, according to testimonies and confirmed by the Ayiti-earthquake network, that at least four earthquakes of magnitudes between 3.3 and 4.2 on the Richter scale were recorded and felt on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in the Nippes region

04h02'42" a.m.: magitude 3.3

06h59'13" a.m.: magnitude 4.1

The epicenters of these tremors were located at sea within an average radius of 13 km northeast of Petit Trou de Nippes and 9 km northwest of Anse à Veau. The depths varied between 4 and 5 km.
