Haiti - Health : USAID trains 2,500 health workers
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has invested in the training and essential resources whose health workers need to provide quality care and meet health challenges. Through USAID's Health Project, 2,500 health workers have been trained to help mothers prepare for childbirth, including what to do in case of complications, to provide care to new mothers and babies, to teach new mothers to breastfeed and to recognize danger signs that require further medical attention.

In addition, USAID supported the training of 108 healthcare providers in 7 hospitals on the use of the 37 ventilators that were donated by the US government to Haiti.

"Strong health systems underpin all other investments in health and lead to greater resilience and global health security," the agency argues.
