Haiti - Social : «The forces of evil speak loud and clear, defeat our country»
In a press note, the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince, through the voice of Mgr Max Leroy Mésidor, says he has seen for some time the descent into hell of Haitian society; that the violence of armed gangs takes an unprecedented proportion. Also he denounces complacency and complicity wherever they come from; and calls on the State authorities to ensure that those kidnapped are released as soon as possible.

"[...] Haitians from here and elsewhere, Sisters and brothers, 1 - For some time now, we have seen the descent into hell of Haitian society. The forces of evil speak loud and clear, defeat our country and seriously threaten our hope as a people.

The violence of armed gangs takes an unprecedented proportion. Thus, fear sets in minds and hearts. The people or groups of people who provide the weapons, the public authorities who do nothing to resolve this crisis are not immune to all suspicion. We denounce complacency and complicity wherever they come from. 2 - The Bishops, the clergy of Port-au-Prince and the people of God from here and elsewhere are bitterly indignated
at the latest turns of events which accentuate the situation of insecurity in the Country:

Added to all this, the kidnapping https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33459-haiti-insecurity-the-church-victim-of-kidnapping.html on Sunday April 11 of five priests, two nuns and three members of the family of Father Jean Anel Joseph, of the Society of the Fathers of Saint Jacques. The abducted people were going to participate in the installation of Father Jean Ane! as pastor of the Immaculate Conception parish of Galette Chambon.

Faced with this lamentable and revolting situation, the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince cries out his anger and his dismay. He calls on the state authorities to ensure that those kidnapped are released as quickly as possible, without payment of ransom, and that the entire country finally breathes a renewal of security and serenity.

The Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince also expresses its closeness and sympathies to all victims of kidnapping and any other form of violence, often with the flagrant indifference of public authorities.

Priests, pastors, men and women religious spend themselves body and soul for the integral human development of their brothers and sisters. They have the right, like any other citizen, to expect respect and security. They will not back down in the face of intimidation.

We call for security and peace for all missionaries and all people. We demand the Immediate and unconditional release of our detained brothers and sisters.

To kidnappers and kidnappers, we say loud and clear :

Sispan n detwi peyi a,
Sispan n detwi lespwa pèp Ayisyen
Sispan n mode dwèt kap banou manje

May the light of the Risen Christ enlighten us and may the God of life accompany us in our walk, through steep paths, towards a better tomorrow !"
