Haiti - Technology : A French firm will design, install and operate 12 Mw of solar energy in Caracol
Following the call for tenders launched in November 2020, the Ministry of the Economy and Finance selected the French firm Akuo Energy to design, install and operate in the Caracol Industrial Park, two plans photovoltaic solar panels 8Mw and 4w with storage systems.
Akuo won the tender with a bid of US $ 21.3 million and a tariff of US $ 0.0462 / kWh, according to information from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which is supporting the project in the part of a program to facilitate access to energy in the country, which is also funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
The French company will have one year to complete the infrastructure, while the concession for operation and maintenance will run for 20 years. The supervision of the works will also be the subject of a call for tenders.
The other participants were JCM Power-Sigora Solar, InterEnergy, Lauzin Energy-Northwest-Instalaciones-SD, Wineco-Living Energy-Siemens-WIN & R, Soventix-Geninov and Virtuosity.
Note that the Akuo Energy firm is already present in the Dominican Republic where it has installed 50 Mw of wind power in operation in El Copey (Province of Monte Cristi) and 1.8 mw of solar power in Punta Cana.
