The Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance (COMAR) revealed in its latest report that from January to March 2021, 22,606 foreigners came to COMAR delegations to seek to stay in the country. A figure that represents almost half of the total requests reported by the agency over the whole of 2020.

TOP 5 refugee applications in Q1 2021 :

Chiapas: 16,259
Mexico City: 2,714
Tabasco: 1,978
Baja California: 895
Veracruz: 760

A total of 22,606 people came to COMAR in the first 3 months of 2021, seeking to stay in Mexico. A figure that represents almost half of the total number of requests reported by the agency over the whole of 2020.
