Haiti - DR : Towards a rapprochement of Dominican and Haitian universities

Thursday April 29, the Ambassador of Haiti in the Dominican Republic, Smith Augustin received the Vice-Minister of International Relations of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT), Carlos Mendieta.
The two men discussed the need to expand relations of cooperation and exchanges in higher education between Dominican and Haitian universities; in order to promote exchanges between professionals of the two Nations, to strengthen standards at the level of higher education, particularly in the field of science and technology.
Mendieta expressed his interest in going to Haiti as soon as possible, in order to meet certain Haitian authorities of the education system as well as rectors of Haitian universities in order to coordinate aspects relating to the rapprochement between higher education institutions of the island, Dominican and Haitian educational offers, as well as exchanges between students from the two countries.
