Haiti - Covid-19 : Dr. Pape wants the Government to reconsider its position on the AstraZeneca vaccine

Reacting on the refusal of the Haitian Government to use against Covid-19, the Anglo-Swedish vaccine AstraZeneca, donation from the WHO under the COVAX program, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33495-haiti-covid-19-the-refusal-of-the-astrazeneca-vaccine-donation-could-cost-haiti-millions-of-dollars.html Dr. Jean William Pape, member of the Scientific Unit for the management of the health crisis and Executive Director of the GHESKIO Centers, appointed to the Scientific Council of the World Health Organization (WHO) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33381-haiti-news-zapping.html regrets the refusal of the Haitian authorities.

He points out "[…] at the time, there was controversy over the vaccine. I understand the fear of the Haitian authorities. However, this vaccine has been used in several countries and has not caused any problems. Haiti should reconsider its position on this vaccine. Me, if I had been offered it, I would have accepted it without any problem"

In addition, Dr. Pape, not to mention the 2nd wave, confirms an increase in Covid-19 cases in Haiti in recent weeks and encourages the Government to launch vaccination to avoid the worst... warning against the new variants that are likely to make very bad...
