Haiti - NOTICE : Increase in cases and presence of variants

Marie Gréta Roy Clément, the Minister of Public Health brings to the attention of the population that two variant coronaviruses (Brazilian and English) were recently identified in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33715-haiti-flash-the-brazilian-and-english-variants-detected-in-haiti.html

In addition, she underlines that the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases (568 cases confirmed during the first 18 days of May 2021) is a matter of concern for the whole Government, in particular the Ministry of Healt. and the various partners engaged for almost 14 months in the fight against the spread of the virus in Haiti.

The Minister urges the population to be cautious and recommends consulting their usual doctor or going to the health center closest to their home as soon as the following signs and symptoms appear :

Fever with temperature above 37.5 degrees Celsius;
Persistent cough;
Chest pain;
Body aches;
Anosmia (no smell);
Ageusia (absence of taste).

Dr. Clément would like to remind everyone of the obligation to scrupulously respect barrier gestures (systematic hand washing, respect for physical distancing of at least 1.50m, compulsory wearing of a mask, etc...)
