Haiti - Politic : Vietnam supports the organization of elections in a peaceful environment
Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, speaking at a virtual meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Haiti, urged the parties involved in Haiti to redouble their efforts to reach "a political agreement on the modalities and the calendar of the elections including the participation of women and young people."

"The priority is to support the organization of elections in a peaceful environment" underlined the Ambassador before urging "the Government, political parties and other stakeholders in Haiti to engage in a national dialogue to tackle the causes of the current political impasse."

The Vietnamese Diplomat called on the Haitian authorities to take "bold and necessary steps to address poverty and socio-economic instability." He also urged the international community and the countries of the region to continue supporting socio-economic development in Haiti, in particular projects for job creation, the empowerment of women and youth and capacity building.
