Haiti - FLASH : Government priority and commitments of Prime Minister Henry (Video)
On the morning of Wednesday July 28, Prime Minister Ariel Henry chaired his first Council of Ministers around the Government's overall vision for the interim period, the situation of public finances and the urgent measures to be adopted.

In the afternoon at a press briefing at his Official Residence, Prime Minister Henry reviewed the actions and priorities of the Government.

Among the priority actions mentioned by Henry are the realization of "democratic, credible, transparent and non-partisan elections, under adequate security conditions, including a broad participation of the population."

Prime Minister Dr Ariel Henry explained "[...] The mission of this Government is to prepare the conditions for elections to be held as quickly as possible. Free, honest, transparent elections, with a wide participation of the population and a Government that will have no favorites or people it favors. In order for us to have this environment we need security on all sides, we need everyone to have free movement in the country, we need to restore the authority of the State, restore confidence in the administration and in justice, to have social stability, to respect human rights, and what we want above all is to change the way we relate to each other, for that we want there to be a permanent and structured dialogue at the level of the Government but also at the level of the population, and in this dialogue one of the things that we seek is a consensus to reach an agreement between the political forces, the civil society as soon as possible [...]"

The Head of Government undertakes to work hard, among other things, to restore security throughout the territory, to restore the authority of the State, to improve the living conditions of the population, in particular the most vulnerable, respect for human rights, the fight against corruption and the waste of public funds, the pursuit of permanent dialogue with a view to a broader consensus around a political agreement, as part of the reconciliation of the Haitian family.
