Assassination : What Jean-Charles Moïse believes
Former senator Jean-Charles Moïse, leader of the radical opposition, sides with those in the opposition who believe that Jovenel Moïse was the victim of a vast plot involving members of his regime. He says he firmly believes that this crime has political and economic-mafia motivations.
Elections : Remarks by Prime Minister Henry
"In the context of the next elections, neither side will be favored by the government. The CEP must be credible and inspire confidence in all. We will also restore confidence in the public administration, in justice and among all of us Haitians. We need the support of the international community to restore a secure and stable security climate throughout the national territory, to create an environment conducive to the holding of elections. We also need you to continue the major projects initiated by the administration of President Jovenel Moise, meet the expectations of the most disadvantaged and fight impunity and corruption" declared Prime Minister Ariel Henry.
The Public Treasury is facing a difficult situation
In a circular published on Thursday, July 29, 2021, the Ministry of the Economy and Finance (MEF) "[...] orders the principal, delegated and secondary authorizing officers to halve the expenses relating to the acquisition of fuel for the next two months of this fiscal year, August and September. This decision was taken because of the difficult situation facing the Public Treasury [...] In addition, no decommissioning of appropriations from the corresponding paragraphs will be authorized by its competent services."
Handover of State property
Following the assassination of the Head of State, the General Secretariat of the Presidency informs all members of the Cabinet and all those who worked directly with the Head of State to kindly hand over, as soon as possible, all the property that are in their possession, which were made available to them for services which no longer function since the death of the Head of State. The administration grants until Monday, August 16, 2021 for the receipt of goods or on the contrary for the application of laws for forced recovery for the benefit of the Haitian state.
