Haiti - FLASH : Second earthquake in Haiti, Magnitude 5.2
About twenty minutes after the earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale hhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34479-haiti-flash-magnitude-72-earthquake-in-the-nippes.html occurred in the department of South, to 8 hours 49 minutes and 34 seconds (08:49:34) in the morning, a second earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale at 20km North- North-west of Cavaillon (South Dept.) at 18.389 degrees North latitude, 73.825 degrees West longitude, at a depth of 10 km.

The epicenter was located 20km North-North-West of Cavaillon (Dept. South), 42km South-East of Jérémie (Dept. Grand'Anse), 78km South-West of Miragoâne (Dept. Nippes) and 157km south-west of Port-au-Prince (West Dept.)

This earthquake was felt in many departments.

So far damage has been reported in Jérémie, houses in the south are reported to have collapsed, more information to come.

According to the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) in relation to these two earthquakes, the first information reports that houses have collapsed and that people could have died.

Phone communication difficulties have been observed in various parts of the national territory. DIGICEL reassures its customers that its network is 100% operational. Communication difficulties for some areas are caused by the congestion created by the post-earthquake panic situation.
