IDP camps are on the increase The earthquake of August 14, 2021 caused the displacement of 24,400 people in the affected departments including Nippes, South and Grand'Anse, says the International Organization for Migration (IOM). IOM has identified 33 sites (IDP camps) in the Sud department with 16,900 people, 15 in Nippes with 6,000 people and 10 others in Grand'Anse with 1,500 people. AUF : Support from university institutions affected by the outbreak On Wednesday September 1, Saulo Neiva, the Director of the regional office of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) informed Marie Lucie Joseph, the Minister of National Education, that an AUF support fund in support of the Grand Sud will be made available to Haiti in order to support the affected university institutions, specifically the public universities in the regions of Les Cayes, Nippes and Grand-Anse as well as Notre-Dame University.
