Saturday, October 2 at a press conference Léon Charles, the Director General ai of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) gave an update on the clashes of the day before in the Martissant neighborhood where the police who lost a man, inflicted very heavy losses to the bandits.

Explaining that on Friday afternoon, heavily armed individuals tried to attack passers-by frequenting the Martissant road, the Haitian National Police (PNH) reacted quickly, but following maneuvers their armored vehicle had a mechanical failure. Despite everything, the police continued to respond on the spot. Reinforcements, from different units, were sent to support the police in difficulty.

7 of the 8 policemen of the patrol aboard the armored vehicle were evacuated, 1 police officer was killed 7 bandits were shot dead and several others wounded according to information gathered by the intelligence service of the PNH said Charles adding that the armored vehicle had been set on fire by bandits.

"The High Command sends its sympathies to the family of the police officer Exil Michelet. He was part of the 27th promotion of the PNH and was assigned to the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO). He was a model and disciplined police officer. He was killed while defending the Nation and the police institution.

The person in charge of the UDMO is already in contact with his family and at the command level we intend to meet the members of his family for the follow-up, adding "We are going to set up targeted operations so that all the individuals who participated in the assassination of the police officer Michelet Exil are arrested and then brought before whom it may concern."
