To 10am, this morning, the center of the Tropical Storm Emily was located to 17.3 degrees north and 72.3 degrees West. At 137 km South Port au Prince (85 miles) with sustained winds (maximum) of 80 km/h (50 mph).

Emily is currently moving very slowly at 7 km/h (5 mph) along a trajectory west northwest. Currently the center of Emily is almost in front of Jacmel and perfectly aligned with the capital Port-au-Prince.

The center of Emily had not yet entered on the territory of Haiti, however, the initial effects (rain and wind) are beginning to be felt on the ground, with more or less of intensity depending on the location.

All the troops of the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minustah) (about 8.500 peacekeepers, including the contingents of Engineering (one thousand men) and about 3.000 elements of the component UNPol) are on alert and ready to assist the people and support the humanitarian and authorities in their efforts. Pre-deployment of troops took place in areas considered most at risk. Engineering companies have been preventively deployed to Gonaives and Les Cayes, and are on standby in Port au Prince.
