11 million euros for conservation in protected areas
In Haiti, 36% of the 5,000 plants and 75% of the 2,000 vertebrate species are endemic. In order to save these species, the French Development Agency (AFD) is helping to endow the Haitian Fund for Biodiversity (FHB), an independent trust fund, with a sustainable financing capacity in favor of biodiversity in Haiti. 11 million euros will be used to implement conservation actions, mainly in protected areas, while improving the living conditions of the communities that depend on them.
