Haiti - Martissant : Urban guerrillas, several victims, the police sub-station attacked

On Monday, December 6, 2021, the dangerous neighborhood of Martissant at the southern entrance to Port-au-Prince was under high tension, amid automatic gunfire during violent clashes between opposing gangs for control of the territory. Several passengers on a bus that was there at the wrong time and in the wrong place have been injured and at least 2 other people were killed.

At the beginning of the afternoon, heavily armed individuals attacked the sub police station located in Martissant 1, despite the presence of an armored vehicle of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) on the scene, riddling the building with bullets.

Under fire from the very determined assailants, the police in insufficient numbers and under-equipped, had for only choice to back. The bandits then entered the premises of the sub-police station, looted and partially set it on fire.

By mid-afternoon bursts of automatic weapons were still being heard sporadically and all traffic was paralyzed as the terrified population remained closed in their homes.

Let's Recall that the day before, the gang leader known as "Ti Lapli" had published a video on YouTube warning people not to cross Martissant "I invite the inhabitants of Martissant to fill up with food and gasoline. The next few days will be difficult... We will not stand idly face of those who try to destroy us."
