Haiti Assassination of the President : The eventual transfer of Samir Handal from Turkey may take a long time...
Jean Victor Generus, Minister of Foreign Affairs, more than a month after the arrest in Turkey (November 14, 2021) of Samir Handal, under an Interpol mandate (red notice) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-35253-haiti-flash-samir-handal-suspect-in-the-assassination-of-president-moise-arrested-in-turkey.html suspected of complicity in the plot which led to the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34162-haiti-flash-president-jovenel-moise-assassinated-by-mercenaries-official-updated-7am-+-video.html and currently in prison in Istanbul hhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-35261-haiti-assassination-of-the-president-haitian-businessman-samir-handal-in-prison-in-istanbul-for-40-days.html ; confirms that the Turkish Embassy in the Dominican Republic, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, has acknowledged receipt from the Haitian Government of all the documents (translated and certified) requested by the Turkish authorities in the context of a possible judicial transfer of Samir Handal to Haiti in the absence of an extradition treaty between Haiti and Turkey

Me Sybile Théard Mews, Samir Handal's lawyer, asserts that his client is innocent. She refutes allegations by former Foreign Office Claude Joseph who said her client was on the run and living in hiding in Florida, claiming to have informed Haitian legal authorities of his client's home in the United States.

She recalls that the name of her client is mentioned in the case of the assassination of President Moïse, only because he rented his house to Doctor Christian Emmanuel Sanon who was subsequently revealed, according to the Haitian authorities to be one of the alleged intellectual authors of the commando operation (arrested on July 11, 2021 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34210-haiti-flash-arrest-of-one-of-the-intellectual-authors-of-the-assassination-of-president-moise-and-an-attempted-coup.html ), which in the eyes of his lawyer does not make him a de facto accomplice.

Regarding the possession of 4 passports by her client, the lawyer specifies that there is nothing illegal or suspect and that his passports are authentic, stressing that Samir Handal in addition to being Haitian and American, holds Jordanian nationalities and Palestinian by her parents...

She also maintains that the arrest of her client in Turkey is not proof that he was fleeing and wanted to take refuge in this country, specifying that he was only in transit in this country in order to go to Jordan and then to Palestine to see his family.
