Me Sybile Théard Mews, Samir Handal's lawyer, asserts that his client is innocent. She refutes allegations by former Foreign Office Claude Joseph who said her client was on the run and living in hiding in Florida, claiming to have informed Haitian legal authorities of his client's home in the United States. She also maintains that the arrest of her client in Turkey is not proof that he was fleeing and wanted to take refuge in this country, specifying that he was only in transit in this country in order to go to Jordan and then to Palestine to see his family.
