Haiti - Montreal : Message from Consul Fritz Dorvilier, on the occasion of the 218th independence (Video) 03/01/2022 16:19:08 Message from Consul Dorvilier : "Dear compatriots of Quebec, The year 2021 has brought us a lot of misfortune. Our economy has deteriorated sharply, which has further plunged the majority of the population into the crucible of poverty. Our democratically elected President, HE Mr. Jovenel Moïse, was brutally assassinated in his private residence https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34162-haiti-flash-president-jovenel-moise-assassinated-by-mercenaries-official-updated-7am-+-video.html, leaving the people in disarray. A strong magnitude earthquake almost completely destroyed the southern peninsula of the country https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34479-haiti-flash-magnitude-72-earthquake-in-the-nippes.html and crushed many human lives. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34681-haiti-earthquake-latest-assessment-of-civil-protection.html Other accidents, added to the terror of insecurity, have daily mourned Haitian families. Nevertheless, as we know, we are a people who have always shown courage and resilience in the face of adversity. We will therefore be able to weather these catastrophes. We now need to think about and build a better future while making the present liveable. With this in mind, we must draw patriotic fraternity and energy from the gesture of 1804 whose 218th anniversary we proudly commemorate on January 1, 2022. Hope the New Year will bring you kindness, health and success. I take this opportunity to wish you a peaceful and reflective Independence Day. " Fritz DORVILIER, Consul General of Haiti in Montreal.
