Haiti - Insecurity : Father Charles François seriously injured by bullets

Tuesday around 6:00 pm on the road to Calbassier (municipality of Miragoâne) Father Charles François, pastor of the Parish of Saint Catherine of Siena in the municipality of Arnaud who was returning from the annex of the University of Notre-Dame on board his vehicle was the target of shots fired by unidentified individuals riding a motorcycle, wounding him with two bullets.

Sauveur Métony, the justice of the peace of Miragoâne, indicates that Father Charles was shot in the arm and neck.

"He was shot twice, his case requires surgery. As there is unfortunately no surgeon at the Miragoâne departmental hospital, he was rushed to Fond-des-Blancs hospital in the South department. Our bishop, Mgr Pierre-André Dumas, and fellow priests accompany him," indicates a note from Father Yves Voltaire, Vicar General of the diocese of Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne.

The Bishop of Nippes Mgr Pierre André Dumas condemns this attack and calls for an end to the generalized insecurity in the country and for the restoration of State authority. According to Bishop Dumas, who with several accompanied the victim, Father Charles François, although seriously injured, would now be out of danger.
