Former President Michel Martelly in a 3:40 minute video entitled "an silans" evokes the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34162-haiti-flash-president-jovenel-moise-assassinated-by-mercenaries-official-updated-7am-+-video.html and explains his silence while in an investigation, the "New York Times" points to several of his relatives as potential suspects in this murder.

"I have decided to remain silent in the face of the many orchestrated negotiations. One do a lot of manipulations. I have decided to remain silent. I'm not going to play this game. I recommend to those who try to cover their tracks to leave it to justice to do its job."

However, he suggests that his attitude will be different in 2022 "[...] Don't worry. You don't see me, you don't hear me. But I'm here. I will never stop thinking for my country. All Haitians want the best for the country. We are certainly living in a crisis, but we all dream of a better tomorrow. I will not be discouraged. Change must be achieved in the country.
