Haiti - Women's U-20 World Cup qualifier : Haiti - Guatemala [1-1] our Grenadières leader of Group H (Video)
Monday, February 28, 2022, as part of the qualifiers for the U-20 Women's World Cup to be held in August 2022 in Costa Rica (10-28 August), our Grenadières faced the Guatemalans on the lawn of the Pan American Stadium in San Cristobal in the Dominican Republic.

For this match the coach Fiorda Charles made only one change in the starting 11 which had won the victory against Cuba [2-1] https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-36057-haiti-women-s-u-20-world-cup-qualifier-victory-of-haiti-against-cuba-[2-1]-video.html and replaced only the goalkeeper Nahomie Ambroise by Madelina Fleuriot.

Fiorda Charles’ starting 11 :
Goal: Madelina Fleuriot; Defense Meghane St-Syr and Bertude Rosinvil, Esthericove Joseph and Maudeline Moryl; Center Mirlene Dorcé, Withmila Pierre Alcide and Dayana Pierre Louis; Forwards Darlina Joseph Valentina Ornis and Rose-Alya Marcellus

In the first period, the Guatemalans attacked our Grenadières from the outset who had to draw on their resources to face very offensive opponents.

At 12' the referee shows a penalty point for a foul on Florsie-Love Darlina Joseph, however the "Video Assistant Referee" (VAR), cancels his decision and grants only a free kick in favor of Haiti.

Celsa Cruz at 21' opens the score in favor of Guatemala [1-0]. Frustrated but fighting, our Grenadières are sparing no effort to regain control, multiplying faults and warnings before Rose-Alya Marcellus seizes the ball at 45' and equalizes the score [1-1]

Returning from the locker room, although dominated by very strong Guatemalans, our very combative Grenadières and determined to win, accumulate faults and yellow cards. Withmila Alcide (red card) is expelled and at 47' it is the turn of Lesly Ventura from Guatemala to be expelled. This second period, which will be played with a reduced squad of 10 against 10, will see the score unchanged, despite several vain attempts, each team falling back on its defense.

6 Grenadières received a yellow card in this match : Dayana Pierre, Florsie-Love Darlina Joseph, Méghane Saint-Cyr, Mirlène Dorcé, Rose Bertude Rosinvil and Valentina Ornis.

Raymonde Rival the Minister of Youth and Sports praised the determination and combativeness of young Grenadières against Guatemala and invites them to continue to believe in their potential in order to qualify for the next stage of the competition.

Despite this draw, the Grenadières qualified for the next round and retained first place in group H.
