Haiti - Environment : A Haitian delegation in Geneva as a prelude to COP 15
The UN Biodiversity Conference originally scheduled to be held October 15-28, 2020 in Kunming, China has been postponed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. On August 18, 2021, the Secretariat of the "Convention on Biological Diversity" (CBD) announced that COP 15 would take place in two parts :

The first part took place in virtual format, from October 11 to 15, 2021;
The second part of COP 15 is scheduled to be a face-to-face meeting in Kunming, China from April 25 to May 8, 2022.

As a prelude to COP15, preparatory technical meetings are taking place in Geneva from March 14 to 29, 2022. A Haitian delegation composed of the Ministry of the Environment composed of Michelet LOUIS Director of Biodiversity, Jean Fanfan JOURDAIN Director of Coastal and Marine Zones, and the Agronomist Gérald NEUVIEME Coordinator of the "Resilient Productive Territories" (TPR) Project participate in Switzerland in the 24th meeting of the Subsidiary Body Responsible for Providing Technical and Scientific Advice and the 3rd meeting of the Subsidiary Body Responsible for the App.

Note that the Subsidiary Body on Technical and Scientific Advice will advance discussions on a follow-up approach for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. This includes : marine and coastal biodiversity, biodiversity and agriculture, biodiversity and health, and invasive alien species. Questions will also be addressed, in particular on synthetic biology, the assessment and management of risks related to living modified organisms.

With regard to the Subsidiary Body on Compliance, it will be a question of ensuring that the framework mobilizes and increases financing for biodiversity, better aligns investments with the needs of nature and people and facilitate the disclosure of risks and impacts for nature.

Delegates will also advance work on mechanisms for monitoring, reporting and reviewing implementation, and building country capacity to manage and conserve its biodiversity resources, benefit from ecosystem services and achieve the objectives of the framework. Plans will also be advanced to improve public awareness to support biodiversity action and ensure full support for the rights-based approach and respect for gender equality and access for women. leadership, participation and decision-making.
