Message from Cardinal Chibly Langlois, Bishop of the Diocese of Les Cayes :

"Dear Brother Priests

Dear Members of Consecrated Life Brothers and Sisters,

I greet you in the Most Holy Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ by inviting you to rekindle the Faith and Hope deposited in you by the gift of the Holy Spirit, in the face of the painful crisis at the national level and the serious threats which weigh on peace in the world because of this war between Ukraine and Russia.

This worrying situation is a concern for our Church, People of God drawn from all nations, salt of the earth and light of the world. We have followed with interest the multiple appeals for peace from the Holy Father, who always took advantage of his interventions to challenge consciences.

In this same vein, Pope Francis recently invited Bishops from all over the world and their priests to join him on Friday March 25 to pray for Peace and to consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Responding to this invitation from the Holy Father, I therefore enjoin all parish priests, fraternities of consecrated life and all the faithful to organize a moment of prayer to be in communion of prayer with the whole Church for Peace in the world and particularly here in Haiti. It would be desirable for this prayer to take place around noon, which, taking into account the time difference, corresponds more or less to the time when Pope Francis will make his prayer of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Rome.

For us, the Church of Haiti, who are practically facing a war that does not say its name, it is also an opportunity to pray for peace between belligerent peoples and between us sons of the same nation.

I dare to hope that you will be in communion with me, with the Holy Father and the Universal Church in this benevolent initiative and I express to you all my gratitude."
