Haiti - Insecurity : MSF temporarily suspends the activities of its Cité Soleil Hospital Center
On Friday April 1st, following several attacks by people wanting to go to the Médecins sans frontières (MSF) hospital located in the underprivileged commune of Cité-Soleil (Drouillard district), MSF announced in a statement that it had to temporarily suspend its activities due to gang violence

"We condemn all forms of obstruction and violence against medical aid, our patients and our staff [...] This hospital will remain closed until the security conditions are guaranteed [...] It is a painful decision to make, because here, we receive wounded victims of violence requiring urgent and vital care : with the interruption of activities, access will be drastically reduced while the needs are only increasing," writes Thierry Goffeau, MSF Head of Mission in Haiti.

Note that care continues to be administered in other MSF structures in Port-au-Prince.

It should be remembered that following a previous wave of violence, services for victims of serious burns had already had to be transferred to another MSF establishment in the capital. In addition, last August, MSF was forced to permanently close the hospital that the NGO had been operating for 15 years in the district of Martissant https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34388-haiti-gang-war-medecins-sans-frontieres-puts-the-keys-under-the-door-in-martissant.html
