Haiti - 252nd of Alexandre Pétion : Message from Nicolás Maduro President of Venezuela

As part of the celebration of the 252nd birthday of Alexandre Sabès alias Alexandre Pétion (born April 2, 1770 in Port-au-Prince), one of the Fathers of the Haitian Nation, the Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro Moros declared on his Twitter account :

"I greet the people of Haiti, with great affection and gratitude, as we commemorate 252 years since the birth of Alexandre Pétion, revolutionary leader and ally who collaborated with Father Bolívar in the struggle for independence. Pétion's solidarity is present in America."

Let's Recall that Alexandre Pétion, was a soldier and politician who was President of Haiti between 1806 and 1818.

In 1798, he joined the campaign for the liberation of the nascent Nation against England and Spain, which was completed in 1815.

At this time he came into contact with the liberator Simón Bolívar, who had taken refuge in Jamaica during the most difficult moments of his libertarian action.

Pétion offered him arms, ships and soldiers to resume his struggles in Venezuela, under the promise of the future liberator to decree the abolition of slavery in America.
