Haiti - FLASH : Horrible drama in Little Haiti, a Haitian mother kills her 2 children aged 3 and 5

A woman of Haitian origin Odette Joassaint (41) was arrested after the discovery of the lifeless bodies of her two children found in her home in the Little Haiti neighborhood, block 100 of Northeast 75th Street in Miami, authorities confirmed.

When Miami police entered the apartment they found the children tied up and lifeless. The mother told officers "...they're inside go get them, I don't want them," Miami Dade Police Officer Michael Vega said.

Odette Lysse Joassaint after being sent to hospital for examination, appeared in court on Wednesday April 13, 2022 where she was charged with two counts of first degree murder of her children Laural Belval a 5-year-old girl, and Jeffrey Belval a 3-year-old boy. She was taken into custody in a Miami-Dade jail, without bond.

If convicted of aggravated first-degree murder, she faces life in prison or the death penalty.

According to the arrest report, cited by Miami Herald, she confessed to tying the children's arms, legs and necks afterwards and using red tape to strangle them.

During her interrogation, Odette Joassaint told the police that she had financial problems and that her children would suffer less if they were dead.
