Haiti - Irene : Irene moves away, sigh of relief 24/08/2011 08:09:28
For its part the National Meteorological Centre (CNM) indicates that the country is now to the level orange and that the rainfall that accompany Irene will decrease progressively as the system moves away of the coast North of Haiti. Thus, it is expected to dump 50 to 100 millimeters of rain in the plains but with a surplus of precipitation on the mountainous terrain of the northern regions and centre of Haiti today. Note the presence of a cloud mass that could bring rain, currently located on the Dominican Republic and who seems to want to move to the West. The civil protection indicates that heavy rains were recorded in the Plaine du Cul de Sac, for the Department of the West, sea level has risen in Cité Soleil and Petit Goâve. Flooding of low intensity occured to Soleil 21 and 23, in the town of Cité Soleil. In the North, to Plaisance, the section Plaisance/Pilate is severely damaged and gardens are devastated. Pending a complete improvement for the lifting of the warning, the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) still prohibits cabotage operations throughout the north coast of Haiti until further notice, this, because of the conditions of storm surge that can cause rough seas The National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) and the National Airports Authority (AAN), requesting a resumption of flights to and from airports of Cap-Haitien, Port de Paix and Hinche.
