Haiti - Digicel Foundation : 15 years of commitment for the benefit of 1.3 million Haitians 11/05/2022 09:02:56 Engagement in the education sectorv : 188 schools meeting seismic and paracyclonic standards have been built to date, benefiting more than 60,000 students, spread over the 10 departments, often in remote and difficult to access places. In order to ensure its management and sustainability, the Foundation has initiated a training program for teachers and school principals and has trained more than 1,700. The program having evolved, today thanks to a partnership established with the Ministry of National Education, it advocates the involvement of communities in the management of schools through the Project to support the capacity building of school communities for an education quality. Commitment through its grant program : The investments of the Investment Foundation have made it possible to carry out more than 250 projects. On the one hand, through partnerships established over the long term with entities working either in sport, in higher education or in support of people with special needs. On the other hand, through its "Konbit Pou Chanjman" campaign launched in 2017 through which 91 community projects have already been funded for a total of 77 million gourdes in areas such as agriculture, livestock, access in the water, fishing... Employee Commitment : Digicel strongly encourages the involvement of its employees in their communities, because where the company grows, the community must do the same. It is keen to offer much more than its commercial services, it is in the sense that it makes available to communities the skills of its human resources by inviting them to take part in various days of volunteering. Last year alone, eighteen of these days were held nationwide. These activities included city sanitation, mobile clinics for people with disabilities, distribution of health kits, etc. Sophia Stransky, Executive Director of the Digicel Foundation, says she is proud of the Foundation's accomplishments and its commitment to communities, declaring "[...] mutual aid should be part of each of us, I have witnessed the support of the Foundation in difficult times for the country, during the earthquakes of January 12 and August 14, many cyclones, in particular Matthew [...]" promising that the commitment of the Foundation that she leads is called to continue, affirming that many initiatives will be taken this year to mark this period, but also to confirm the Foundation's desire to contribute to a better tomorrow for Haiti.
