On Friday afternoon, acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry left the country for Los Angeles, California, to participate in the 9th Summit of the Americas which will take place around the theme "Building a Sustainable, Resilient and Equitable Future" from June 6 to 10, 2022.

Before leaving the country, the Head of Government during a press briefing at the Diplomatic Lounge of Toussaint Louverture International Airport discussed what he intends to address at this summit.

"I intend, according to the theme of the Summit, to highlight Haiti's priorities for security, an essential element for Haiti to reclaim its future.

Our country has known, since its existence, difficult episodes. It is time for Haitians to assume leadership in the management of the country.

We will highlight our reconstruction plan for the Great South, with particular emphasis on achieving results through the implementation of the projects submitted during the presentation to our partners of the Integrated Recovery Plan for the Southern Peninsula, on February 16.

At this 9th Summit, we are going to talk to our interlocutors about the serious problems that we face in our country, in particular security, democratic governance and economic and social difficulties.

We are in the process of dealing with the main partners in order to have the ways and means to equip our police forces to deal with gangs who, through illegal mechanisms, obtain increasingly dangerous weapons.

I will take this opportunity to support the Haitian candidacy for the leadership of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). This is our former Minister of Health Dr Guillaume. Our diplomats are already campaigning for it.

I reiterate, again today, my call for dialogue to all, to all of us so that we form, through a momentum of self-transcendence, this bundle of solidarity with a view to leaving, by common agreement, the country of this quagmire in which it has been floundering for several decades.

I invite those who are still hesitant to join us for a great national "konbit". Haiti first. No sacrifice is too great when it comes to saving our country, our beloved Haiti."
