Thursday, July 28, 2022 in the morning, the lifeless bodies of 5 Haitian migrants were found in the waters off the island of Mona, an uninhabited island located between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, announced the United States Coast Guard.

In addition, the Coast Guard has located 66 other Haitians safe and sound on the island, including two minors. Let's recall that 6,100 Haitian migrants have been intercepted by the US Coast Guard since October 2021, an increase of nearly 300% compared to the 1,527 Haitian migrants intercepted during the 2020/2021 fiscal year against only 418 Haitians during the 2019/202 fiscal year.
