Haiti - DR : All gas stations in Dajabón under military control

Due to the increase in fuel smuggling to Haiti, the Dominican Government has decided to militarize all gas stations in Dajabón, to prevent unscrupulous people from smuggling fuel in order to resell it for large sums of money on the black market in Haiti, affected by a serious shortage of fuel.

During the last intervention against contraband, members of the S2 intelligence service and soldiers of the army of the Dominican Republic seized a Toyota van, without license plate, driven by a Dominican Francisco Antonio Vargas Domínguez, who was trying to smuggle 90 gallons of fuel into Haiti (in multiple canisters) via the Don Miguel border community (Dajabón Region)

The fuel, the van and the driver who was arrested, were taken to the fortress of Beller in Dajabón, for the corresponding legal purposes.

In addition, a gas station that engaged in the smuggling of diesel fuel was also closed at kilometer 4 of the Manolo Tavares Justo highway, Dajabón (Montecristi).
