Friday, September 2nd, 2022 in the evening, an explosion occurred in a warehouse located between Charban and Curtisa streets in Petit-Goâve where fuel was stored and sold illegally on the informal market.

At the time of the incident, several customers were stocking up on gasoline at the price of 1,000 gourdes per gallon...

In the explosion and the ensuing fire, at least 9 people (including the owner's wife) suffered burns to varying degrees, 3 of them seriously. The victims were rushed to Notre-Dame Hospital, which was quickly overwhelmed.

Fortunately, no deaths were reported.
