The Commander General of the Dominican army, Major General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, informed that security levels have been raised to the maximum at the border with Haiti, given the high risks posed by the current situation in Haiti and its uncertain outcome...

Fernández Onofre said that for each strategic point of the border, the operational capacity has been increased with additional staff and the number of soldiers has been doubled. While intelligence patrols work on points that could be used for penetration into Dominican territory of individuals considered as a risk to Dominican sovereignty.

"We are increasing the operational capacity to the maximum to counter any event that may occur, we are coordinating with the migration authorities to whom we are providing support", underlined the General Commander Onofre adding "the preparation and the conditions of the army are optimal, our armed forces are ready to act and face any eventuality..."
