Haiti - Health : First case of cholera imported into the Dominican Republic 23/10/2022 11:02:22
It is a 32-year-old Haitian woman, who entered the country on Monday from Port-au-Prince and en route to the province of La Altagracia. The suspected case was confirmed positive on Thursday by the national laboratory Doctor Defilló. The patient who also suffers from amoebic colitis, acute pyelonephritis and pre-existing kidney failure was admitted to the Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia Hospital in the municipality of Higuey where she is receiving adequate treatment. An epidemiological check was carried out with all the people who could have had contact with her and so far, none have shown symptoms of the disease, including her relatives and her one-month-old baby are negative for cholera.
