Haiti - World U-17 Peru 2023 : Selections of the Grenadiers for the last eliminatory phase 19/11/2022 09:11:42
To this end, coach Angelo Jean Baptiste, who had led the last U-20 men's selection, was chosen to lead the destinies of this U-17 selection. He will begin his work by organizing three gatherings aimed at choosing the best players. The first will take place in Florida, from November 22 to 29 with the participation of players of Haitian origins playing in clubs with professional structures in the United States, Canada and certain European countries; at the end, a first group will be formed. With his staff, coach Jean Baptiste will then work to set up a second group in Haiti and the best of the U-14 champion players of the 2021 CFU Challenge Series will be involved. At the end of a third and final gathering including, among other things, training matches, the first two groups will be merged to identify the best selection that will represent Haiti at the "Concacaf U17 Championship" in Guatemala in February 2023. Let's recall that Haiti is in Group H alongside El Salvador, Suriname and Honduras. During this last eliminatory phase, our young Grenadiers are aiming for one of the four qualifying tickets awarded by FIFA to CONCACAF for the 19th edition of the FIFA World Cup in this category to be held in Peru in 2023 (November 10 to December 2, 2023). According to the rules of the competition, at the end of the 1st round, the first three teams of each of the four groups will be qualified for the round of 16 where the four winning countries of the groups of the preliminary round are already waiting for them: Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. These same regulations stipulate that the four semi-finalist countries of the Concacaf Championship U17 2023 will qualify for the FIFA World Cup Peru 2023. Guatemala, in Central America, has been designated by Concacaf to host the 16 countries that will participate in the regional eliminatory championship (from February 11 to 23, 2023) with matches scheduled on two natural surface pitches: "El Estadio Penantivo" and "El Estadio Nacional Doroteo Guamuch Flores".
