As part of Operation "Sustainable Promise", the United States Hospital Ship USNS Comfort will arrive in Haiti for a humanitarian mission from December 7 to 13, 2022 in Jérémie Bay (Dept. Grand'Anse). This will be the 12th "ustainable Promise" mission conducted in the Caribbean, Central America and South America and the 6th in Haiti. The last mission in Haiti dates from 2019.

During his stay, medical teams from the USNS Comfort will work alongside Haitian professionals to offer a variety of medical services to adults and children (family medicine, preventive medicine, dental examinations and treatments, optometry, pediatrics, dermatology, women's health and physical therapy). In addition, limited surgical care will be performed on board the hospital ship. In addition, several medical professionals from other partner nations have boarded the Comfort and are joining in this effort to provide medical care to patients across the region.

To guide this Hospital Ship, after talks with representatives of the Embassy of the United States of America in Haiti, the Directorate General of the Maritime Service and Navigation of Haiti (SEMANAH), dispatched technicians from the Directorate of Maritime Security, who were able, despite the difficult conditions linked to insecurity, to set up a port light at the port of Jérémie as a prelude to the arrival of the ship.

This flashing red light which flashes every 4 seconds is installed on a mast 12.2 m high and has a range of 2 nautical miles. It was put into service this month. The coordinates of this traffic light are: 18°38'34.4724" North and 74°06'39.4812" West
